74 photography blogs... that's how many I am subscribed to at the moment. That is, of course, just the tip of the iceberg of how many photoblogs are out there. Many of them I read every day. They give useful tips, show inspirational pictures, challenge us to try new things. So what on earth makes me think the world needs another one?
I've toyed with the idea of creating a blog for a while now, and wasn't quite sure what it would be about (a good sign that I didn't need to create one yet). Then over the past few months my life-long love of photography has re-asserted itself in a big way. I'm embarking on a serious quest to improve my photography skills, and possibly to figure out a way to turn this hobby into a supplemental income stream.
In pursuit of improving my photo skills, I have started taking part in a lot of online contests and challenges. A recent one, the $50 Film Camera Challenge, has requirements that are most easily fulfilled by writing a blog post. So, that was the tipping point that got this blog started.
This blog, if I have time to keep it up, will be mostly about photography. Since this is still just a hobby for me, it'll focus a lot on cool things to do with cheap equipment and free software. And it will be my journal of my attempts to turn a hobby into something more, for better or worse.
I do hope it'll be interesting enough to a few of you that you'll follow along with me.
While you're waiting for useful and interesting blog posts to appear here, please browse through my latest images at flickr -- I always appreciate feedback.
