My Main Camera: Canon S2 IS

Here's the total cliche mirror-self-portrait-with-camera. I really don't enjoy shooting self-portraits, but this is the best picture I have of my Canon S2 IS at the moment. Canon has since updated this twice, with the S3 and then the S5 (I have no idea why they skipped 4). The newer ones are very incremental improvements, and most hints-and-tips will apply equally well to all three.

I'll write a longer post about the ins-and-outs of the S2 in a future post, but for now let me just mention that I'm a member of three flickr groups dedicated to this family of cameras. If you aren't participating in any groups on flickr, I highly recommend that you check some out. There are groups for cities and regions, particular cameras, particular types of post-processing, you name it.

I'll recommend more of my favorite groups in future posts, but for today, your action item is: join a flickr group dedicated to your camera, and see what other folks are shooting with it.
