I'm not sure if I've mentioned yet on the blog that we homeschool our kids. We are blessed to live in an area where home schooling is quite popular, and so there are more activities available than we'd ever have time to participate in.
One that we have gotten very involved with is the Joyful Noise Homeschool Band. They've had a concert band and jazz band program going strong for years, but this is just their second year of marching band. I love shooting the marching band because, unlike during concert season, they are outdoors, in the sunshine! Any of you who have tried to photograph a band concert in a dim auditorium with a point-and-shoot will know what I mean.
You'll probably see several more marching band photos here as the season goes on. Let me know what you think of the post-processing -- too gimicky? The crop on this came out just the right shape for the film-strip overlay, so I gave it a try.
